Red Gold Mercedes Benz car sale for $11 million
The McLaren SLR Red & Gold edition which grabbed headlines in 2009, as an exclusive edition of the racing vehicle from Mercedes, is now up for sale with a price tag of $11 million. This exclusive piece of auto from the house of Mercedes used close to 600 pieces of rubies, a sizeable lot of 24 carat gold, and the tenacity of 35,000 labor hours in the crafting and construction of the car. The red paintjob of course, stands as the perfect complement to all the gold lying around.
Ueli Anliker, a Swiss entrepreneur was the brainchild behind this extravagant idea and the car for obvious reasons, had given him the lion’s share of the spotlight. Since he is known as someone to go the extra mile to fulfill his dream, he ensured some special Midas touched additions to the car. They include front grille logo, headlight background, alloy wheel rims, rear trunk spoiler and on the inside, gold is seen on the steering wheel, central console, leather seat cover, sun-wizor, dashboard, door skirts, and even the rear trunk carpeting. The red color running alongside also is known to have close to 5 kgs of the precious metal mixed in it. After 25 coatings, it certainly seems to have shun well. The special edition details have also been inscribed at the back with the help of liquid gold paint.
